As a continously service improvement quality for its customer and also to support the tourism improvement between China and Indonesia - especially Shanghai and Jakarta, Garuda Indonesia will introduce “Immigration on Board” on the Shanghai – Jakarta service as of 4 May 2013.
Previously, “the Immigration on Board” service has already been introduced in six other services, among others : Tokyo (Narita) – Jakarta, Seoul – Jakarta, Sydney – Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita) – Denpasar, Osaka – Denpasar and Sydney – Denpasar.
“Immigration on Board” is an immigration document handling service that provides “Visa On Arrival” to passengers on board a Garuda Indonesia flight with the assistance from immigration officers designated on the Garuda flight to Jakarta. Garuda Indonesia provides the service in collaboration with the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
To obtain the Immigration on Board service, passengers from Shanghai must first purchase a visa on arrival voucher at Garuda Indonesia check-in counters at Pudong International Airport, Shanghai. During the flight, two immigration officers will conduct passport checks and issue visa on arrival. Passengers who have been given the entry visa will also receive a special card that must be returned to the ground immigration officers upon arrival (at Soekarno-Hatta) before leaving the airport. The immigration on board service gives passengers the freedom to bypass queues at the immigration counters and have a more pleasant travel experience in Indonesia.
Garuda Indonesia Director of Service, Faik Fhmi says that the Immigration on Board service is part of Garuda Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to provide innovative services to improve service quality towards its customers. “The launching of Immigration on Board will hopefully ensure passengers from Shanghai have a pleasant travel experience when visiting Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia. Shanghai is one of the destinations that have a huge market potential for Garuda Indonesia”, added Faik Fahmi.
In addition to Shanghai, Garuda Indonesia’s current services to China include Jakarta – Guangzhou and Jakarta – Beijing. Garuda Indonesia also flies from Jakarta to Taipei in Taiwan.
All of these Garuda Indonesia flights offer the “Garuda Indonesia Experience” service concept that brings the best of what Indonesia has to offer to passengers in all stages of their journey, during pre, in and post flight.
Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia’s services to the Chinese destinations are also assisted by Chinese cabin crew that will endeavor to remove any language barriers and help passengers with any help or service they may need throughout the flight.
In 2013, Garuda Indonesia will also open other domestic routes, such as Bandung – Denpasar, Denpasar – Balikpapan, Batam – Pekanbaru, Balikpapan – Banjarmasin, Balikpapan – Manado, Balikpapan – Berau, Jakarta – Bengkulu, Jakarta – Tanjung Pandan, and Jakarta – Tanjung Pinang.
Meanwhile, in line with a growing international market, Garuda plans to introduce new routes: Jakarta – London, Medan – Penang, Surabaya – Singapore, Denpasar – Bangkok, Denpasar – Brisbane, and Denpasar – Kuala Lumpur.
Continuing with the fleet expansion program, in 2013 Garuda Indonesia will welcome twenty-four (24) new airplanes which consist of four (4) Boeing 777-300 ER, three (3) Airbus A330, ten (10) Boeing 737-800NG, and seven (7) Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen, and Citilink will expect 16 new additions to its fleet, comprising eleven (11) A320-200 and five (5) ATR-72. With the arrival of these new aircraft, by the end of 2013 Garudadan Citilink will operate 139 aircraft (104 for the Garuda fleet and 35 for Citilink) aged on average 4,2 years. Through the “Quantum Leap” program, Garuda Indonesia will operate as many as 194 aircraft by 2015.
