As a part of supporting the Jogjakarta and Central Java tourism and economical potency improvement, and as an effort in build up the regional network, starting from today (16/12) Garuda Indonesia re-open the Singapore-Jogjakarta flight. Was there attending the re-opened flight salutation in Adisucipto Airport, Jero Wacik as Tourism Minister, Captain Ari Sapari as Garuda Indonesia EVP Operation, and corpse of Muspida Jogjakarta.
The Singapore-Jogjakarta route, which flies B 737-300 aircraft with 110 seats capacity (16 for business class and 94 for economy class), will be held three times a week ; every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, based on departing schedule from Singapore (GA-877) at 16.10 and landing in Jogjakarta at 17.20 WIB. From Jogjakarta, the flight (GA-876) will depart on 18.00 WIB, and will be landed in Singapore around 21.10 at the local time.
Jero Wacik, the Tourism Minister, strongly supports the Singapore-Jogjakarta route re-opening because it will potentially invite more tourists to Jogjakarta. “The direct flight of Garuda Indonesia from Jogjakarta to Singapore and vice versa will get this city becoming more strategic, considering its expanded and broaden access to the focal cities in South East Asia”, he added.
Garuda Indonesia EVP Operation, Captain Ari Sapari, said that besides strengthen Garuda Indonesia position as an airline company with wider network in regional district, the re-opening of Jogjakarta-Singapore route is also as Garuda Indonesia commitment in linking the essential cities in Indonesia with focal cities in South East Asia.
Jogjakarta is one of main tourism destination city in Indonesia, and located in attractive and highly potential for development region. This city is centre of handcraft industry, culture state, and as student city with various eligible educational institutions.
Based on statistics, the Jogjakarta-Singapore vv route passengers’ potency estimation will be around 29 thousands in 2009. For the period before, passengers with destination Singapore from Jogjakarta or vice versa, flied through Jakarta and spent longer flight hour. From now on, Garuda Indonesia flies from Jogjakarta to other core cities in Indonesia, such as Jakarta (9 times a day), Denpasar (twice a day), and Singapore for 3 times a week.
For this Singapore-Jogjakarta vv route, Garuda Indonesia puts target on “Seat Load Factor/SLF” or in meaning of 80% loaded aircraft. For today’s flight, the SLF of both flights noted pleasing results; GA-876 (Jogjakarta-Singapore) achieved 95% and GA-877 (Singapore-Jogjakarta) achieved 90%.
