Garuda Indonesia Launches "Garuda Indonesia Online Booking"

To provide customers with greater benefits and facilities in reservation bookings and ticket purchases, Garuda Indonesia introduced the "Garuda Indonesia Online Booking". The launching which took place at the Grand Hyatt, Jakarta on Friday, January 16, 2009, was witnessed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Sofyan Djalil and Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar.

"Garuda Indonesia Online Booking" enables customers took book flight reservations and conduct transactions and payments on the internet, via the airline's website: www.garuda-indonesia.com. This service, temporarily is available for domestic flight in Indonesia only.

Commenting on the event, the Minister of Communications and Information, Mohammad Nuh says, "the "Garuda Indonesia Online Booking" is a significant step forward in IT development in Indonesia, particularly in terms of online transaction services." Garuda Indonesia has come forward as one of the few airline companies who have developed such service using local resources and expertise. "This is indeed a proud moment for all of us," he affirms.

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Sofyan Djalil, further added that as a business entity, Garuda Indonesia should be consistent in improving service quality, either for its customers or other stakeholders in general. "Without a doubt, this new service will facilitate customers even further in terms of ticket reservations and purchase, while Garuda Indonesia will also have a lot to gain."

Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Emirsyah Satar reveals that the "Garuda Indonesia Online Booking" is part of the Company's efforts to promote its E-Travel or Seamless Travel service product that emphasize on easy booking, easy check-in and e-ticket. "The Garuda Indonesia Online Booking is the result of a synergy between local strengths, namely Garuda Indonesia, Bank BNI and NSIAPay", he concludes.

Emirsyah confidently adds that the launching of "Garuda Indonesia Online Booking" comes with perfect timing. "It's just what the present business climate need and what customers expect." Transaction data reveals online payments conducted through the Garuda Indonesia Call Center tend to be on the increase. "In 2008, transaction value reached IDR 215 billion, a rise of 78% compared to the IDR 121 billion achieved in 2007. In December alone,
transactions derived from online payment booked almost IDR 123 billion," he explains further.

Meanwhile, to support further business growth, in 2009, Garuda Indonesia will operate at least 18 new routes in both the domestic and regional sectors. And the arrival of 50 new Boeing 737 NGs (New Generation) starting in mid 2009 and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs early next year will help to realize the airline's network expansion plans.
