GARUDA RESUMES DENPASAR - MATARAM VV SERVICE
Category: Press Release (0 view)

On April 1, 2009, Garuda Indonesia resumed its Mataram-Denpasar vv. service after the route’s temporary closing last year due to the global economic crisis. Apart from keeping in line with Garuda Indonesia’s network expansion program in 2009, which introduces 18 new routes, the re-opening of the route is part of Garuda Indonesia’s service improvement efforts and meets current market demands.

The Denpasar-Mataram service is served by a daily schedule using a B 737-500 aircraft with a seating capacity for 12 in business class and 96 passengers in economy class. GA 436 departs from Denpasar at 18.35 WITA and arrives in Mataram at 19.15 WITA. Return flights from Mataram (GA 437) departs at 19.50 WITA and arrives in Denpasar at 20.25 WITA.

The route’s re-opening is expected to meet the demands of Garuda Indonesia’s passengers for convenient travels to the two cities as well as other destinations, either for business or leisure. In the long run, the flow of visitors will open up new opportunities in tourism, business, consequently improving the region’s economy and social conditions.

Not unlike neighboring Bali, Lombok’s distinct culture and relatively untouched natural beauty have become a much sought after destination for tourists looking for the perfect getaway. Considering the island’s potentials, Garuda Indonesia endeavors to contribute to the region’s development by establishing direct links to Bali.

With traffic between Denpasar and Mataram showing a promising trend, Garuda Indonesia targets a rise of 75% in seat load factor on each segment of the round trip.

As part of its strategy to increase market share, since the start of 2009, Garuda Indonesia has introduced several new routes, namely Jakarta-Lampung, Jakarta-Malang, Jakarta-Kendari, Yogyakarta-Singapore, Shanghai-Denpasar, Surabaya-Hong Kong and Denpasar-Hong Kong.

This year, Garuda Indonesia will continue expanding its network with the introduction of new routes, among others Jakarta-Jambi and Jakarta-Kupang in May, Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang in June, Jakarta-Ambon-Ternate in July, Jakarta-Palu in August, Jakarta-Sorong-Manokwari and Jakarta-Tarakan in September, and Denpasar-Adelaide (Australia) in November 2009.
