The bidding process for the aircraft procurement was carried out in open and transparent manner, and announced in various local and international media.

Garuda Indonesia has also recruited 814 cabin crew members of which 725 (90%) of them were recruited from the station cities. The objective of recruitment from these regions was to anticipate any language barriers that may arise between passengers and crew, as part of the airline's service to its customers.

To ensure maximum flight safety and security, Garuda Indonesia appeals to all pilgrims to avoid carrying dangerous goods on board the aircraft, such as oil stove, LPG, gas lighter, knife, machete, scissors, hairspray or perfume in high pressure spray cans. Batteries must also be removed from electronic goods. Garuda Indonesia would also like to remind pilgrims not to accept or bring any articles or goods entrusted by another into aircraft. This is to prevent unwanted incidents and irresponsible actions that may threaten flight safety and security by certain individuals.

In terms of baggage allowance, pilgrims must comply with regulations issued by the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic Indonesia and Garuda Indonesia. The allowed baggage weight must not exceed 32 kg during flights to Jeddah and Madinah or on the return flight to Indonesia. Baggage allowance consists of one suitcase, one cabin bag and passport holder. Each pilgrim will receive five liters of zamzam water from Garuda Indonesia at each debarkation station in Indonesia.
