On Wednesday, January 25, 2012, Garuda Indonesia won the “Indonesia Most Admired Companies” award from Fortune Indonesia Magazine. The award recognized the airline’s success in carrying out its transformation program and accomplishing significant achievements.
The “Indonesia Most Admired Companies” award was presented to PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.’s EVP Engineering and Fleet Management, Hadinoto Soedigno, by Fortune Indonesia Magazine’s Editor, JB Soesetiyo at the Upperroom of Wisma Nusantara Jakarta.
Garuda’s EVP Engineering and Fleet Management, Hadinoto Soedigno, said that the award was an achievement the airline can be proud of. “This achievement proves that all the efforts we have made to improve services and conduct corporate transformation have yielded positive results, including gaining the public’s positive perception and appreciation of our performance,” he added.
The “Indonesia Most Admired Companies” award is based on surveys and researches as well as the public’s assessment of companies in Indonesia, which covers a number of aspects, including leadership, management system, innovation, financial performance, corporate social responsibilities (CSR), human resources development, the company’s readiness in “going global” and development of managerial team.
The award also went to other companies, among them Unilever, Bank Mandiri, Telkom, Medco, BRI, Indosat, Aneka Tambang, and BCA.
Garuda Indonesia’s success in carrying out its business transformation has earned it numerous national and international recognitions. Throughout 2011, Garuda Indonesia won “Perusahaan Idaman (Ideal Company), Top Brand Award, Indonesia Best Brand Award, Annual Report Award (from Bapepam-LK, IDX, Ministry for State-owned Companies (Kementrian BUMN), KNKG, IAI, and the Directorate General of Tax, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (Dirjen Pajak Kementerian Keuangan RI), as well as Good Corporate Governance (GCG) Awards (from SWA and IICG).
Garuda Indonesia has also won the “World’s Most Improved Airline” award from Skytrax, London – an independent global airline rating agency, and “Airline Turnaround of the Year” award from Center of Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
“AsiaMoney Corporate Governance Poll 2011”
On the same day, Garuda Indonesia also received the “Best Overall Company for Corporate Governance in Indonesia” award during the “AsiaMoney Corporate Governance Poll 2011” event. Garuda came first in the categories ‘Best for Responsibilities of Management’, ‘Best Shareholder’s Rights and Equitable Treatment’ and ‘Best for Best Investor Relations’.
The award was received by PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., EVP Strategy, Business Development and Management Risk, Achirina, during the Indonesia Awards Dinner on Wednesday, January 25, 2011 at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Grand Hyatt, Jakarta.
Achirina said that Garuda winning the three awards is proof of our commitment to consistently implement Good Corporate Governence (GCG). “After going public, Garuda must always maintain transparency and show exemplary performance” added Achirina.
The AsiaMoney award is presented to companies, banks, or financial institutions which display their best performance throughout 2011. In addition to Corporate Governance Poll, assessments also covered categories, such as Brokers, Best Managed Companies, Deals of the Year, Best Banks, Cash Management, Wealth Management, dan Fixed Income.
