In order to foster closer cooperation and to increase synergy between the two organisations, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and Garuda Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 12 pertaining to the field of cooperation through the promotion and dissemination of information regarding developing investment in the nation. The signing was carried out by Muhamad Chatib Basri, Head of BKPM; and Emirsyah Satar, President & CEO Garuda Indonesia, at the BKPM Building in Jakarta.
Through this new cooperation, BKPM will facilitate the placement of various Garuda Indonesia promotional materials at its head office, as well as at its representative offices overseas, and will also involve Garuda Indonesia in BKPM promotional activities. Similarly, Garuda Indonesia will facilitate the inclusion and placement of various BKPM promotional materials through its inflight magazine, inflight entertainment, executive lounge and MICE (Meeting Incentive Conference Exhibition) programmes, along with its domestic-and-international sales offices.
At the signing, Muhamad Chatib Basri explained that the cooperation between BKPM and Garuda was proof of both sides’ commitment to promoting Indonesia and to raising the image of the country both nationally and in the eyes of the world. “As the leading and the largest airline company in Indonesia, Garuda is a suitable partner for BKPM in promoting Indonesia internationally within a framework of achieving the Indonesian government’s mission to increase the flow of investment into the country,” Chatib added.
Meanwhile, Emirsyah Satar welcomed the cooperation and stated that he was proud to be able to support BKPM by way of the Garuda Indonesia network. “As a State Owned Enterprise [BUMN], Garuda Indonesia will continue to support the government, and in this case BKPM, in their bid to increase the value of investment and to promote the industry and economy of Indonesia,” Satar added.
