Support for Health and Education in Manokwari
Garuda Indonesia recently carried out a Corporate Social Responsibility programme that included distribution of free medicine and recycled books, as well as a health seminar in Manokwari, West Papua between November 6-8.
Garuda Medical Centre and the Indonesian Care for Cancer Kids Foundation sent 12 medical workers along with 1.3 tonnes of medicines to the area. Both parties also held a health seminar which ran under a theme of “Garuda Indonesia Cares about Children’s Cancer in Manokwari, West Papua”.
The programme was carried out in the District Offices of North Manokwari and South Manokwari and the aid was received by around 1,500 people.
Garuda Indonesia also distributed 100,000 recycled books to Maripi State Elementary School No.28, as well as to the Hidayatullah Pesantren in South Manokwari.
As a continuation of this programme, the airline also provided health assistance down in the District of Biak at the end of November 2012.
