Jakarta, September 30, 2021 – National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has received several international recognitions at the "Skytrax World Airline Awards 2021", retaining its place on the list of best global airlines. The airline has achieved awards in seven top categories at the event, namely Top 15 World's Best Airline, Top 4 World's Best Airline Cabin Crew, Top 5 World's Best Airport Service, Top 20 World's Best First Class Airlines, Top 20 World's Best Business Class Airlines, Top 10 World's Best Economy Class Airlines, and Top 6 Best Airline Staff in Asia.

Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiary Citilink Indonesia have also received the special “2021 Covid-19 Airline Excellence Awards”. The accolade, given only to 41 airlines worldwide, is based on the assessment of the best health protocols implemented across all of the operational services of the global airlines.

The recognitions for Garuda Indonesia have been officially announced through "Skytrax World Airline Awards" official website (https://www.worldairlineawards.com) last Tuesday (28/9). On the same occasion, Garuda Indonesia has also maintained its reputation as Indonesia’s best airline by winning the awards for “Best Airline in Indonesia”, "Best Cabin Crew in Indonesia", and "Best Airline Staff in Indonesia".

Irfan Setiaputra, President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia said, “This achievement has a special meaning as a manifestation of Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to continue providing the best flight services during the challenging time, by making customers’ safety and comfort our top priority. This accolade also represents our continuing commitment as the national flag carrier to consistently provides the best flight services for all of our customers amid the difficult time, as we face the current challenges to our business performance.”

“This recognition also increases our optimism to be agile and innovative to ensure our sustainable business commitment aligns with our vision to respond the public needs for a safe and comfortable flight service, as reflected in our service philosophy, #BecauseYouMatter, that shows the company’s efforts to understand the needs of our customers, by providing the best flying experience for them,” Irfan added.

Irfan also said, “It is a big honor for us, in the midst of the pandemic that significantly impacts the aviation industry, Garuda Indonesia could represent the national identity in the world stage through this global recognition. The achievement is not only Garuda’s success as a business entity, but also the result of the hard work of all Garuda Indonesia’s employees and the aviation ecosystem that is supported by all of our customers, especially the Indonesian public.”

The “Skytrax World Airline Awards 2021” is conducted by a London based international air transport rating agency, Skytrax based on a survey involving global airline passengers during the period between September 2019 to July 2021.

“We believe that the essence of service quality is the customers’ trust in the comfort and safety aspects of the flight service. This serves as the basis for our efforts to continue implementing health protocols consistently, to maintain flights quality that is adaptive, based on service excellence, and that always prioritizes the overall service quality for our customers, starting from trip planning to their arrivals,” Irfan concluded.
