Jakarta, June 25, 2021 – As an effort to adjust the operation of its services, especially in Australia, starting form Friday (2/7), the Indonesia’s national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced that the company will be focused on Australia flight services through Sydney, which will be served once a week.
Previously Garuda Indonesia served Australia services through 3 (three) major cities which were Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The last flight to and from Melbourne was served on Tuesday (15/6). Meanwhile, Perth routes will be served until next Thursday (1/7).
The President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that the adjustment of these operational services is a part of the company’s ongoing effort to ensure the company's optimal performance run amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially through the network restructuring in Australia at the current time.
"Considering the restriction of passenger movement to and from Australia, especially to and from Perth and Melbourne as a preventive measure of response to the Covid-19 pandemic by the Australian government, starting from July 2nd, Garuda Indonesia will optimize the accessibility of Australia services through Sydney. Furthermore, as a national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia is committed to ensure that connectivity between Indonesia and Australia remains available, especially to facilitate the repatriation of Indonesians from Australia and people who have to fly in the midst of a pandemic situation like today," Irfan added.
"Garuda Indonesia also ensures that the company is still operating its Melbourne and Perth offices to provide services for the passengers who need assistance for rescheduling, charter flight, or any other services to support their convenient flight journey."
Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia will continue to evaluate the available routes and will be focusing on the potential services for both passenger movement and cargo distribution activities to optimize the company's performance.
