GARUDA INDONESIA ANNOUNCES CODESHARE AGREEMENT WITH AEROMEXICO

Cengkareng, 14 Oktober 2016 – National Flag Carrier Garuda Indonesia, on Friday (14/10) announced a codeshare partnership deal with Aeromexico, Mexico's flag carrier airline, starting 1st October 2016, to tap into both growing regional markets. The deal will allow passengers from both carriers to travel to Mexico and several Indonesian cities with seamless connection between two country.

Garuda Indonesia passengers can travel to major destinations in Mexico, such as Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara and Monterrey from Denpasar, Bali, via Narita Airport in Japan, while Aeromexico's passengers can enjoy the access to cities in Indonesia also through Denpasar and Jakarta airports. Both airlines offer five flights a week.

"Through this cooperation passengers can have a wide array of diverse destinations and access, and also we want to increase the passengers number from the two countries," said Garuda Indonesia commercial director A. Toni Soetirto.

He added that the cooperation is expected to stimulate tourism and business activities by making it easier for passengers from Mexico to visit Indonesia, with the country is deemed the most promising economy in the South America region.

Meanwhile, Aeromexico and Garuda Indonesia are also in the SkyTeam global airline alliance, in which passengers from both airlines can enjoy Sky Priority, allowing selected passengers easier access to airport services, including check-in, baggage drop off and boarding, while also enjoying its airport lounge and redeem flight points. 

Jorge Goytortua, Aeromexico’s Vice President of Global Sales, said “Aeromexico customers are our highest priority, which is why we are constantly developing new partnerships to expand our global route network, reduce connection times, and generate greater value for our Club Premier members who can earn and redeem points. On this occasion, we are celebrating a new codeshare agreement with Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia’s national airline, thereby strengthening our connections to a country offering multiple options to business and leisure travelers.” 

"This strategic partnership with Garuda Indonesia will further strengthen our connection to Southeast Asia market," Aeromexico vice president global sales Jorge Gotortua said in a statement.

Garuda Indonesia group has a current fleet of 197 of aircraft, with 144 airplanes are operated by Garuda Indonesia and the remainder of 53 aircraft operated by its subsidiary, Citilink. This year, Garuda will receive 18 new aircraft: a Boeing  777-300ER, four Airbus A330-300, four ATR72-600 and nine Airbus A320 for Citilink.
