GARUDA INDONESIA LAINCHES SPECIAL IMMIGRATION LANE SERVICES AT JAKARTA AND BALI AIRPORTS

Jakarta, March 30, 2023 - National airline Garuda Indonesia continues to strengthen its efforts to improve its services, one of which is creating synergies with the Republic of Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights by presenting a special immigration lane service for Garuda passengers.

The launch of the particular lane was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement by the President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra and the Republic of Indonesia's Director General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim, today, Thursday (30/3), at Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

With this collaboration, all first-class, business-class, and GarudaMiles Platinum members, especially passengers on international routes, will get added value in the form of an integrated, seamless travel experience, particularly in the preflight and post-flight processes via a faster immigration inspection process both on departure and arrival at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, and at the International Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The special lanes at both airports have also started operating today, Thursday (3/30).

The President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said that this special line service is not only an effort by Garuda Indonesia to continue to provide added value for service users but also a form of Garuda Indonesia's commitment as a national flag carrier to contribute to the recovery of the national economy, especially the tourism sector, via various strategic initiatives and synergies with tourism stakeholders.

Irfan continued, “The presence of this special line service for the immigration process is one of Garuda Indonesia's ongoing initiatives as a national flag that is presented to improve the quality of the seamless journey for Garuda service users in an end-to-end manner, in line with flight trends that are starting to grow significantly.”

In the special lanes service flow, first class, business class, and GarudaMiles Platinum members will be given a marker card. Then Garuda Indonesia's Passenger Service Assistance (PSA) will direct the passenger to a special immigration screening counter.

Irfan continued that, given the potential and challenges of Garuda Indonesia's role as a national flag carrier that optimizes direct flights from international cities to international airport hubs such as Jakarta and Bali and vice versa, the collaboration of the special lane immigration service that was officially implemented today is expected to be an improvement in services that are increasingly seamless and increase convenience for service users and foreign tourists.

"Of course, we express our appreciation to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia for the collaboration that has been established as well as the continued support from other airport stakeholders for Garuda Indonesia's steps to continue to provide more service value to all service users, especially at our two touch-points, namely the pre-flight and post-flight processes," said Irfan.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Immigration at the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said that this collaboration is a manifestation of positive cooperation between stakeholders in improving services to the community. It does not rule out the possibility of other collaborations or the development of services in the future.

“We must maintain and build this ecosystem so that the synergy between these institutions can produce added value in all sectors that benefit the community. This is in line with one of the functions of immigration, which is to facilitate community welfare development,” said Silmy.

Furthermore, Silmy hopes that the signing of this cooperation will be able to attract more qualified foreigners to visit Indonesia so that it can drive the nation's economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Together with Garuda Indonesia, we will also socialize the various visas that are provided for foreigners, starting from the tourist visit visa, electronic visa on arrival, and pre-investment visa, and soon, we will launch the Golden Visa, which can be utilized properly by qualified foreigners,” concluded Silmy.

Along with our service philosophy, “Because You Matter,” Garuda Indonesia continuously strives to provide various added values for the community, one of which is through various strategic initiatives with partners.

“We hope that the signing of this cooperation can represent an essential step in the importance of the collaborative tourism ecosystem, in this case, Garuda Indonesia and the Directorate General of Immigration, to provide additional value to aviation and airport services for Garuda Indonesia service users,” concluded Irfan.
