Meiji Shrine

The Meiji Shrine is located not too far from Harajuku Station. Entering the Meiji Shrine will feel like entering a gateway to the past civilizations. To head to the main temple, you must walk through stone paveway between the tall trees. Not far from a bridge, you will see stacks of giant barrels fille with sake, each decorated uniquely making them a perfect photo op spot for you.

    If you’re in luck, you can get the chance to witness a Japanese wedding ceremony that practices the rituals of the Shinto teachings. Parades in the Meiji Shrine consist of two priests, two women in traditional attires, the marrying couple and their family members. It is an eye-catching and unique ocassion not to miss.

    Look for the Camphor Tree with thousands of wooden tablets called Ema, filled with hopes and prayers in various different languages from various countries on a wooden fence. If you would like to write yours, simply write them on the wood with the available writing tool and hang them on the fence. The wooden tablets to write your wish can be procured for 500 yen.
