GARUDA INDONESIA SUPPORTS GOVERNMENT POLICY EFFORTS DURING THE EID FITR SEASON

 

Tangerang, 24 April 2020 - The national airline, Garuda Indonesia ensures that it will fully support government policies through Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 25 of 2020 concerning Transportation Control during the Eid Mubarak 1441 H season in the framework of Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 which imposes a temporary ban on domestic flights through airports to and from areas designated as large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) and/or red zone the spread of covid-19 from 24 April to 31 May 2020.

Considering the socialization period for implementing the policy, specifically, Friday, (4/24) until 11:59 p.m. Local Time, all flights are still operated with full supervision of the local airport authorized. Thus, starting Saturday (25/4) at 00.00 Local Time, Garuda Indonesia's domestic flight routes that are connected to the PSBB status area and the red zone COVID-19 spread will be temporarily suspended.

Through this service adjustment, Garuda Indonesia will still serve routes that are excluded in the ministry regulation, including domestic flight routes and international routes that are not directly connected to areas with PSBB status or the red zone area of COVID-19.

Until  Friday afternoon (24/4), there are eight PSBB areas included in the Garuda Indonesia flights consisting of Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Pekanbaru, Makassar, West Sumatra, Banjarmasin and Tarakan.

Aside of those cities and red zone area of COVID-19, all Garuda Indonesia flight operational services will continue normally.In this ongoing situation, Garuda Indonesia will continue to provide the latest information if there are further adjustments related to Garuda Indonesia's flight operational services

Nevertheless, we ensure that the commitment to bring accessibility to the community will still be our top priority, especially in meeting the needs of the community to return to their respective domiciles, of course by taking into account the applicable regulations and corridors, particularly related to health protocols in operations the flight.

In addition, Garuda Indonesia also affirmed its commitment to the continued distribution of shipping logistics needs and the assistance of humanitarian missions to the community can still be fulfilled by the full operation of Garuda Indonesia air cargo services.

This temporary suspension policy is the result of intensive coordination with the government as an ongoing effort to break the chain of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. We certainly hope that all elements of society can support this policy.

In connection with this policy, the affected passengers will be required to can make adjustments on their flight plans. Garuda Indonesia ensures that it will impose an administration fee waiver policy in the procedures for adjusting flight plans for the reroute, rescheduling mechanism, as well as providing flight ticket vouchers in accordance with applicable regulations.
