Cengkareng, November 27, 2017 – In relation to the impact of Mounth Agung eruption since last November 26, 2017 and the publication of “Notification to Airman/Notam No. A4242/17” to close Ngurah Rai International Airport, accordingly all of Garuda Indonesia flight from / toward Bali & Lombok until tomorrow (11/28/2017) is remain canceled.
Flight cancellation in Lombok & Bali is a part of the company’s commitment to put forwards flights operational safety aspects, especially considering the spreads of volcanic ash which is very risky to flight operation.
As for flight from / toward Bali which was impacted by 49 arriving flight and 46 departing flight. Meanwhile flight from / toward Lombok which was impacted by 11 arriving flight and 11 departing flight.
Thereby the total of Garuda Indonesia flight that has been affected since the increase of Agung mount’s volcanic ash from Sunday (11/26) until tomorrow Tuesday (11/28) were 233 flights, consisted of 183 flights from / toward Bali and 40 flights from / toward Lombok.
In connection to this situation, Garuda Indonesia provides alternative route (land route) by bus for affected passengers in Surabaya who wants to continue their trip to Denpasar.
VP Corporate Secretary On Duty Garuda Indonesia Hengki Heriandono said “ Regarding the enhancement of Agung Mount eruption activity, we have prepared contingency plan to handle affected flights, include the passengers handling to ensure passengers rights can be well accommodate”.
In this force major situation, all of Garuda Indonesia passengers which has flight ticket from / toward Bali or Lombok, in this case was affected by Garuda Indonesia flight schedule cancellation caused by Agung Mountain volcanic ash given a choice to Reschedule / Extend Ticket Validity Period (until 6 months since force major happened) / Reroute / Change Passenger Name (Only for 1 time) / Full refund according to the current arrangement.
Garuda Indonesia will always monitor the situation and growth of Agung mountain activity, especially volcanic ash activity which can interfere flight safety. Garuda Indonesia flight from / to Bali & Lombok will be re-served after the volcanic ash from Agung mountain subsided, and back to normal situation.
Garuda Indonesia counseled passengers to ensure the contact number or email which listed on ticket, in order to contact if there any change.
By considering the situation, Garuda Indonesia counseled passengers to not going to the airport in Bali or Lombok until the further notice.
