GARUDA INDONESIA IMPLEMENTS THE STIMULUS POLICY ON THE SUBSIDY OF THE PASSENGER SERVICE CHARGE (PJP2U) IN THE FLIGHT TICKET COMPONENT

Jakarta, October 23, 2020 - The national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has welcomed the government’s stimulus on the subsidy of the passenger service charge (PJP2U) and ready to waive the passenger service charge (PSC) or airport tax in the tariff of the ticket flights starting on today, October 23 until December 31, 2020. This policy is applied in 10 airports served by Garuda Indonesia out of 13 airports that are determined by the government.

President & CEO Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra explained, “During challenges situation that we are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we considered that the provision of its stimulus as a significant strategy to support the recovery of airlines’ performance, especially to attract the public to use air transportation services again”.

“We surely hope through this stimulus policy it will bring positive impacts towards the increase of domestic passenger traffic. We believed by a solid ecosystem within the aviation industry along with the regulators and related stakeholders could serve as a fundamental foundation in supporting for more optimal business continuity amid this pandemic situation”, said Irfan.

“We have ensured the readiness of supporting infrastructure in terms of the implementation of the flight ticket adjustment that will be applied in all channels ticket sales following the stimulus policy regulation from The Transportation Ministry”, Irfan added.

In accordance to the stimulus policy on the subsidy of the passenger service charge from the Transportation Ministry, this exemption of the airport tax for passengers valid for those who purchase tickets from October 23 until December 31 2020 at the certain airports which are the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport - Tangerang (CGK), Hang Nadim Airport - Batam (BTH), Kualanamu Airport - Medan (KNO), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport - Denpasar (DPS), Yogyakarta International Airport - Yogyakarta (YIA), Halim Perdanakusuma - Jakarta (HLP), Lombok Praya International Airport - Lombok (LOP), Jenderal Ahmad Yani Airport - Semarang (SRG), Sam Ratulangi - Manado (MDC), Komodo Airport - Labuan Bajo (LBJ), Silangit Airport - North Tapanuli (DTB) - Banyuwangi Airport - Banyuwangi (BWX), Adi Sucipto Airport - Yogyakarta (JOG).
