  • Please check for yourself that your passport will remain valid for at least 6 months when you enter Indonesia.
  • We are not responsible for any problems caused by the expiration of your passport validity period.

From June 12, 2015, the following changes have been made regarding the acquisition of visas for Japanese who enter the Republic of Indonesia.

The exemption from obtaining a tourist visa is applicable only to those who enter from the target 29 airports, 88 seaports and 7 designated border points. Visa exemption is not applicable for entry from other points.

  • The remaining period of your passport must be at least 6 months at the time of entry.
  • You need a round-trip ticket or a ticket that can depart to a third country.
  • Visas are required to enter the country for purposes other than the purpose of entering the country, which is exempted from the requirement to obtain a tourist visa.
  • If you enter Japan exemption from obtaining a tourist visa, you cannot switch to another visa after entering Japan.
  • If you are exempted from the obligation to obtain a tourist visa, please check for yourself whether or not your passport (passport) has the "immigration stamp" or "Tourism Purpose Only" stamp or description.
  • The Arrival Visa (VOA) system will continue to exist. Please use the Arrival Visa (VOA) system for tourists planning to stay for more than 31 days or for entering the country for business purposes without working.

Arrival Visa (VOA) system

  • Please follow the VOA system for the following persons.
    • If VOA is extended (commission 355,000 Indonesian rupiah) to enter or stay in Indonesia for tourism purposes and stay for 31 days or more, or if you may stay for 31 days or more.
    • For entry of sports (not for commercial purposes).
    • If you enter Japan for research, short-term study abroad, or short-term training.
    • In case of entering Japan at a business meeting.
    • When entering the country by purchasing goods.
  • Credit cards cannot be used to purchase VOAs (as of May 3, 2019). Please pay in cash such as US Dollar or Japanese Yen at Indonesian Rupiah or the conversion rate of the day.
  • If you purchased VOA, please confirm the receipt of the receipt with the entry date on the spot.
  • If you have entered Japan with VOA, please check the following at the immigration booth.
    1. Return of receipt stubs
    2. Attaching VOA sticker to passport
    3. Immigration stamp
    Be sure to check on the spot, and if steps 1 to 3 are not done, ask the immigration officer to correct them on the spot.
  • If you already have a commercial visa, please proceed directly to immigration.
  • From January 26, 2010, arrival visa for short-term resident can apply for one-time extension (30 days) locally.
