Tangerang, 1 May 2020 - Garuda Indonesia's national airline will fully support the Government's commitment to ensure the readiness of the air transportation sector to meet the needs of the public interest and urgent circumstances of various elements of society that are related to the interests of national economic amid the efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra said, "In line with Garuda Indonesia's full support through the implementation of transportation control policies in the homecoming period this year, as a national flag carrier we are committed to take an active action in the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring the air connectivity accessibility with all the provisions and restrictions to accomodate the distribution of national logistic as well other public interest”.
"This will certainly be done through intensive communication with the Government and relevant authorities in ensuring the readiness of the need for accessibility of flight services is in line with the ongoing mission of preventing the spread of COVID-19 through the implementation of clear and measurable health protocols specifically related to the government's plan to establish the derivative policy of the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 25/2020 - which regulates the provision of flight service operations during this pandemic", said Irfan.
"However, we ensure, we are very ready if indeed the policy will be applied," said Irfan.
"We are fully aware that in the midst of this pandemic there are many activities involving the public interest that must continue to run and need access to air transportation services. For that reason, we are working to support the operation of these flight services as a sustainable step with the government in ensuring that public interests can be well accomodated",Irfan stated.
