Sorong is located in West Papua. Its location is very strategic, as Sorong is the main gate and transit of West Papua. Sorong is not only known to be an industrial city; it is also known for its natural resources and sea biome.

Sorong is the main access to the tourist attraction Raja Ampat. Known as a small part of heaven that falls to earth, Raja Ampat is one of Indonesia’s best tourist attractions that is well-known to the world. From Sorong, you need to cross to Waisai with a ferry. Most tourists island-hop when they visit Raja Ampat to also enjoy these following places:

Wayag

Wayag is the most iconic tourist attraction in Raja Ampat. The beautiful ocean view with islands scattered about is one of its main appeal for those who are visiting Raja Ampat. Be well prepared when you are about to visit because the trip will take some time with speedboats (around 6-7 hours). You also need to keep in mind when climbing the coral hills because the edges are pretty sharp.

Pianemo

Though it’s not as big as Wayag, the view in this chain of coral islands from the hilltop is tremendously beautiful. The access to the hilltop is made easier with the presence of manmade stairs. Along with your hike, you will also see a lot of greeneries from the tropical forest around you.

Telaga Bintang

Not far from Pianemo, Telaga Bintang is a laguna that is surrounded by corals and hills. You will have to hike around 5 - 10 minutes to get to the top and see in full view a laguna shaped like a star and Tosca-colored. Keep in mind to wear proper shoes and be careful when you hike, because the coral hills are pretty sharp.

Teluk Kabui

Teluk Kabui or Kabui Bay is located between Waigeo and Gam islands. Enjoy the beauty of Teluk Kabui waters amongst the coral hills for an unforgettable experience. Teluk Kabui holds natural and exotic beauty that will surely take your breath away.

Pasir Timbul

Pasir Timbul or Exposed Sand is white sanded areas that appear when the seawater recedes. This area is quite vast, so it allows tourists to swim or play sand right in the middle.

Arborek

Arborek is white-sanded island known for the beauty of its beach, underwater world, and the friendliness of its people. For those of you who love snorkeling or diving, Arborek waters provide you with its great allure of sea biome. Even from under the jetty, there are various fish that you can witness. Don’t forget to greet the locals because they are open and friendly to all tourists from all over the world.

Sauwandarek

Sauwandrek village is another spot in Raja Ampat that will provide you with the beauty of its underwater nature, such as coral reefs and various different fish that you can observe while snorkeling or diving. Aside from its beautiful ocean, you can also interact with the welcoming villagers from Sauwandarek.

Gam Island

Gam Island is nor far from Waisai. In this island, you can relax and enjoy the white sand, clear water, and the greeneries that surround it.
