Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program has become a great approach for business entities to plant their roots and grow together with the society. CSR acts as the bonding agent between companies and customers or consumers, in order to nurture the public’s sense of belonging toward the companies as well as to balance out the business dynamics and environment sustainability.
Garuda Indonesia is fully aware of the fact that each success achieved by the company should also be enjoyed by the society. Collaboration programs in improving the society and environment is one of the ways of showing it. Through CSR programs called Garuda Indonesia Cares, the society empowerment and environment improvement programs will always be part of the hard work in bringing the company many steps forward.
One of Garuda Indonesia’s commitments are stated in Garuda Indonesia Green Airline, which aims to become an airline company where balance between the society and nature meets. It has been performed, among others, through Garuda Indonesia’s involvement in the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD). It is a forum for Indonesian companies focusing on effort from business sector in creating sustainable development. Garuda Indonesia also actively participates Indonesia Vision Program 2050 which is an initiative program aiming to make a business framework transition from ‘business as usual’ to ‘sustainable’.
Through Garuda Indonesia Cares, Garuda Indonesia has practiced CSR programs designed to support the sustainability of social growth and environmental-based development. These programs are mostly in synch with government’s effort and other institutions both domestic and international, consistently and simultaneously covering 3 aspects of CSR: economy, social and environment.
