Jakarta, November 5, 2015 – Due the impact of the eruption of Mount Barujari, near Mt.Rinjani, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and refer to NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) No.A2479 / 15, announced by the Briefing Office of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia at 08.00 (GMT + 8) about the extended period of the closure of Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Lombok International Airport and Blimbingsari Airport, Banyuwangi until tomorrow, Friday (6/11) at 08.45 (GMT + 8), Garuda Indonesia announced its flight cancelations from those airports.
“Up until today, Garuda Indonesia had canceled 209 flights, where on this morning (Thursday, 05/11) about 86 flights from and to Bali, Lombok and Banyuwangi were canceled,” said Vice President Corporate Communications Garuda Indonesia, Benny S Butarbutar.
Benny added, due to the notice, Garuda Indonesia will not operate until tomorrow, Friday (11/06) morning, considering the volcanic ash could endanger flight safety," said Benny.
Garuda Indonesia will keep monitoring the situation and will continuously observe for any updates on the activity of Mt. Barujari and readiness of the Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Blimbing Sari Airport in Banyuwangi and Lombok International Airport to be back operating.
“With the current situation, we urge our customers who have flight scheduled on the unoperated airports to reschedule their reservations through Garuda Indonesia Call Center (+62)2123519999 or (+62)804 1 807 807 (24-hour services) or through Garuda Indonesia ticketing offices," added Benny.
All Garuda Indonesia flights through Denpasar, Banyuwangi and Lombok will re-operate as soon as announced safe to operate by the authority. Considering the current situation, Garuda Indonesia highly recommends all passengers not to come to Ngurah Rai Airport, Blimbingsari Airport and Lombok International Airport until further announcement.
