Medical Equipment

For safety reasons, you may need to obtain our approval if you need to use electrical/electronic medical equipment on board our flights by informing us prior to your travel. Sometimes you will also need Medical Clearance issued by Garuda Sentra Medika containing health statement from their appointed doctor or flight doctor. This is all required to ensure that the equipment does not interfere with the aircraft navigation and communication systems. Our cabin crew may require you to turn the medical equipment off if it is suspected to cause interference to the aircraft systems.

You should be familiar with your own medical equipment and are required to know how to operate them as our cabin crew is not trained to operate them. Please inform us at the time of booking if you are traveling with such medical equipment.

If you are deaf or hearing impaired and require special assistance during your journey with us, please let us know at the time of booking.

We have monitors that display flight information for all our passengers, and most gate areas have electronic displays that indicate specific flight information. Please inform our check-in staff if you are deaf or hearing impaired so that we can provide special assistance to you in the event that your flight is delayed, or if the departure gate is changed after you have checked-in.

Approval to use this device on our flights is not required. And as we may not be able to provide inflight power supply on all your flights, you should ensure that the device is self-powered using a gel or dry battery and that the batteries can provide power for at least 150% of the flight time.

  • No smoking or open flame is permitted within 10 feet (or around 3 meters) of any seat row where a person is using the device. However, all Garuda Indonesia’s flights are non-smoking flights.
  • During movement on the surface, taxi, take-off, and landing, the device must: a.) Either be stowed under the seat in front of the user, or in another approved stowage location, so that it does not block the aisle way or the entryway into the row, b.) If it is to be operated by the user, use only at a seat location that does not restrict any passenger’s access to, or use of, any required emergency or regular exit, or the aisle(s) in the passenger cabin
  • Please be advised that a passenger using a CPAP device is not permitted to sit on an exit row.
