Socio-economic progress is one of the ways to indicate the success of a CSR program. Through loan and partnership development programs, Garuda Indonesia has distributed capital loans to small and medium enterprises (UKM) throughout the country. The capital loans are given to the UKM partners and help the potentials grow while managing the business well. The loan distribution can be conducted with the help of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), non-governmental organization (NGO) and other distributing institutions.
- 4,985 UKM Partners
Entering 2019, Garuda Indonesia Partnership Loan Program has registered 4,985 partners consisting of 634 partners directly under Garuda Indonesia and 4,351 more under BUMN/other distributing institutions in 16 Indonesian provinces. The amount and distribution of UKM partners keep growing in line with the development of informal business sector in the society.
- Food Security
By the end of 2018, the farmers and UKM partners in agriculture sector received the largest portion, approximately 52.7% of the partnership distribution. Industrial sector came second (27.4%) followed by trade (7.2%), plantation (5.1%), fishery (3.3%), service (3.1%), and farming (1.2%). This is in accordance with Garuda Indonesia’s commitment to support government programs, especially the national food security.
- UKM Product Promotion
Apart from the capital loans, the UKM empowerment effort is also complemented by education and training programs and even the promotion in order to optimize the products and improve the market of UKM products. In addition to the participations in national and international fairs, Garuda Indonesia also promotes the UKM products by displaying them on Sales on Board catalogue (Arcade) from 2013 to 2015. One of the UKM partners, Utami Silver, became the supplier of brooches pinned to the uniform of each Garuda Indonesia cabin crew member.
