Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the main gateway to visit Jakarta and Indonesia for inbound international flights. Plaza Indonesia
Plaza Indonesia is one of the biggest and most luxurious shopping malls in Indonesia, and is interconnected with the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Plaza Senayan
Further south from Plaza Indonesia is an equally luxurious shopping mall, Plaza Senayan. In addition to the various high-end brands setting up shop, two department stores also provide even more options for visitors. Inside you will also find some of the best bars in Jakarta and a diverse selection of restaurants, both in the main building as well as in the Plaza Senayan Arcadia. One unique spectacle of Plaza Senayan is the large clock on the main atrium that chimes every hour with occasional characters dancing out along the tunes in certain times.
Pacific Place
At the heart of the Sudirman Central Business District is a shopping mall that has it all. Pacific Place Mall Jakarta houses bars, restaurants, fashion retail, offices, and residences, to the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Even those living nearby can get their groceries at Pacific Place’s upscale supermarket KemChicks, catch the latest films at the CGV Blitz cinema, and even bring their kids for a fun day at the KidZania. France’s top fashion retailer, Galeries Lafayette, also set up shop at one of the mall’s corners, all three storeys.
Pondok Indah Mall
Located in the upscale residential area of Pondok Indah in South Jakarta, Pondok Indah Mall a.k.a. PIM was built in the early 1990’s and is still one of the most-visited malls in Jakarta. The mall is such a success that the management have built sequels PIM 2 and PIM Street Gallery, and planning for more expansions, including a hotel and an apartment complex. Air-conditioned bridges with more shops called ‘sky walks’ connect the mall buildings.
Gandaria City
Gandaria City is a 7-storey mall in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta that is part of a mixed-use property alongside office and apartment towers. Its main attraction is the Gandaria Mainstreet where restaurants, bistros, lounge and cafes are the first things we see entering this mall! Designed by Genius Loci, a renowned interior design firm, the main concept of the Mainstreet is different architectures of Old Batavia on one side and New York Time Square on the other. Fashion to electronic retailers, hardware stores, and supermarkets can also be found here.
Pantai Indah Kapuk
While Pantai Indah Kapuk may not be a specific venue, it is a trending destination in North Jakarta. The district has receiving raving reviews to having some of Jakarta’s best bars, hip hangout places, to restaurants offering from the best sushi in Jakarta to a Michelin star restaurant. Each of the eateries here takes pride in their specialty, from Indonesian, Chinese, Korean, to an American diner.
Central Park
Central Park is one of the more recently-built malls in Jakarta that has become quite a favorite. The mall combines indoor and open-air facilities and sits in the middle of West Jakarta’s business and residential districts. Visitors get to shop and dine indoors at the mall’s popular lifestyle tenants, as well as catching fresh air outdoors for a stroll in the park. The outdoor area also host several events almost every week with different communities, as well as a daily fountain show.
