For over the centuries, Baubau is already known as one of busiest ports in Southeast Sulawesi, connecting others bustling ports in such as Kendari, Makassar, and Ambon, making this city as melting point of trade in East Indonesia.
As tourism destination, this city is not only famous for its white sandy beaches and crystal like water, but also its diverse culture and local tradition. At the top of hill, a gigantic Buton fortress of Wolio Kingdom relict is still stood up well. While you here, you need to taste the Parende feast, or a local yellow fish soup which cooked from fresh seafood in this region. This dish is famous for its sour and savour taste of its soup combined with soft red snapper fish.
