Jakarta, 06 November 2014 – Citi Indonesia and Garuda Indonesia jointly announce today the rejuvenation of Garuda Indonesia Citi Card (GICC) with more values and benefits. Garuda Indonesia Citi Card, which was first introduced in 2006, now comes with new sets of rewards and privileges to further improve GICC cardholders' travel experience.

“We are very proud and excited to reintroduce the Garuda Indonesia Citi Card, with its new and special rewards and privileges. Garuda Indonesia Citi Card is the first travel card launched in Indonesia,” said Lauren Sulistiawati, Country Business Manager, Global Consumer Banking, Citi Indonesia. “Citi Indonesia is committed to bring innovative products and services to accommodate its customers’ growing needs, and the rejuvenation of the Garuda Indonesia Citi Card with its new rewards and privileges is part of that commitment."

According to Statistics Indonesia's data, the number of air traveller who flew domestically between January and August 2014 exceeded 38.5 million, which represents a 6.02 percent year-on-year increase compared to last year’s 36.3 million. During the same January-August 2014 period, the number of international air traveller topped the 9 million mark, up 4.95 percent compared to the same period in 2013.

“Air travel has become an inseparable part of the emerging affluent and affluent markets in Indonesia,” said Erik Meijer, Executive Vice President Marketing dan Sales, Garuda Indonesia. “We have been working closely with Citi Indonesia to bring improvements to the Garuda Indonesia Citi Card that are relevant to these particular markets. These upgrades will also strengthen the card’s position as the best-in-class travel partner in Indonesia.”

Some of the newly added benefits and rewards that Garuda Indonesia Citi cardholder can enjoy include, but not limited to 3x miles on every Garuda Indonesia transaction, 5% discount on transaction at Garuda Indonesia ticketing office (special program up to 15% discount until 31 December 2014), free additional 20kg bagage allowance with priority handling, and priority waitlist reservation. Until 31 December 2014, all approved Garuda Indonesia Citi Card applicants will receive one free return ticket to Singapore.

Citi and Garuda Indonesia recognize that Indonesians often travel in groups with families and friends. Thus, the upgrades on Garuda Indonesia Citi Card will also bring benefits to cardholder’s travel party such as Boarding priority, dedicated check-in counter at Soekarno-Hatta airport, executive check-in counter at other airports in Indonesia and free access to Citibank Lounge for two at various domestic and international terminals. New Garuda Indonesia Citi Card also comes with free annual fee during the first year and a supplementary card for family member of Garuda Indonesia Citi primary cardholders, allowing them to enjoy the same rewards and privileges.
