STARTING FROM MAY 7, GARUDA INDONESIA RETURNS TO SERVE FLIGHTS

Tangerang, May 6, 2020 – Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia on Thursday, May 7, 2020 At 00.01, returned to operate its flights as a follow-up to the policy of the circular letter issued by the Covid-19 Task Force Number 4/ 2020 and Transportation Ministry Regulation Number 25/ 2020 rules of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia concerning on the transportation control during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1441 H. ​

Refering to the regulations, the exemption flights are intended to serve spesific passengers such state officials, private sector workers and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) employees that provide health services, basic necessities, security and defense and vital economic functions, repatriated Indonesian nationals, individuals who need emergency medical care and family members of a deceased individual.​

Garuda Indonesia President & CEO, Irfan Setiaputra said, "Reservations for these flight services can be accessed starting yesterday afternoon through all Garuda Indonesia's owned ticket channel sales channels".​​

"The resumption of the domestic flights was based on intensive communication with the Government and relevant authorities in ensuring the readiness of flight service needs is in line with the ongoing mission of preventing the spread of COVID-19 through the implementation of clear and measurable health protocols, particularly as implemented by the relevant authorities" , said Irfan.​​

Garuda Indonesia applies a very strict procedure on screening and accepting passengers for the exemption flights, including through the application of the provisions of COVID-19 health and negative certificates from the Hospital. Passengers with the purpose of official travel must be proven by showing an office identity card and an assignment letter from the office and related documents, including a statement of not going home / written statement of reasons for traveling.​
