Jakarta, May 18th 2021 – Garuda Indonesia and its subsidiary Citilink has officially become the first national carriers operated by pilots and crew members who have been inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccines. It is in line with the acceleration of the implementation of the vaccination program which began at the end of February, which are carried out for pilots and cabin crew who qualified with the Covid-19 vaccination criteria and are active on duty.
President & CEO Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra explained that, "This is in line with Garuda’s goal to provide customers and its entire workforce with maximum protection against the coronavirus. It is also one of the attempts to reignite the interest of the public to travel via air transportation".
“The Implementation of Covid-19 vaccination for pilots and cabin crew is also a form of our commitment to provide a sense of safety and comfort for all the passengers of Garuda Indonesia Group who are served by pilots and cabin crews in a “Fit to Fly” condition which is now also supported by the provision of Covid-19 vaccine, which surely by emphasizing the implementation of health protocols consistently in every flight operation lines”, said Irfan.
In addition, the optimization of the national vaccination program is one of the efforts to encourage public confidence in public transportation so that it is more developed.
“We really appreciate all the steps taken by the Government through the Ministry of Health and related health authorities who have also prioritized vaccination program for all the workers of aviation industry including Garuda Indonesia and Citilink flight crew, as to consider in the middle of this situation with full of uncertainty that the aspects of health and flight convenience are the first priorities for all people who will use the air transportations.
Irfan added that the support which supported by the Government for the health aspects of aviation industry workers is surely accompanied by awareness of the implementation of health protocols by every elements of society entering a new normal era that can promote the recovery of the socio-economic and tourism sectors in the country.
“In addition, according to the health protocol procedures carried out by Garuda Indonesia Group, all pilots and cabin crew who are on duty will keep on continue to carry out the pre-medical flight procedure including the Covid-19 examination test with negative result”, said Irfan.
