GARUDA INDONESIA NAMED THE BEST AIRLINE IN REGION: ASIA AND AUSTRALIA FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS

In line with its on-going business transformation through the “Quantum Leap 2011-2015” program and continuous service improvement, Garuda Indonesia has been entitled as the best airline in region Asia and Australia by Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) for two consecutive years. The airline was named a winner of the “2014 Passenger Choice Awards” in the category of Best in Region: Asia and Australasia on 15 September at the annual APEX Awards Ceremony in Anaheim, California, USA.

The award was presented to the Executive Vice President (EVP) Service of Garuda Indonesia Faik Fahmi by APEX Events & EXPO chair Dominic Green. Previously, Garuda Indonesia was also voted as the “Best in Region: Asia and Australasia” during the “Passenger Choice Award 2013” held in September 2013.

Garuda Indonesia outshone four other airlines who were also finalists in the "Best in Region: Asia and Australasia" category at the 2014 Passenger Choice Awards, namely Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Korean Air, and EVA.

Commenting on the honors, Mr Faik Fahmi said that being awarded the "Best in Region: Asia and Australasia" is certainly an honor for all of Garuda’s dedicated who have committed themselves wholeheartedly to the advancement of Garuda Indonesia and have embraced the challenge together to achieve a level of "Service of Excellence”.

“I believe that this award will serve as further inspiration for Garuda and its employees to remain committed and even improve further, while it will also mark another milestone as a firm recognition of the sustained development which we have continued to make over the recent years, not only in terms of services, but also throughout all aspects of our company,” he added.

The 2014 Passenger Choice Awards is based on an online survey on outstanding flight experience for airline passengers around the globe. The traveling public selects airlines to recognize at the global awards program based on their service, products and innovations. “In 13 languages and available around the globe, the Passenger Choice Awards is by far one of the most impressive and comprehensive passenger surveys of its kind,” said Dominic Green. “It’s a huge benefit to the airline industry to have this kind of candid data at their fingertips, and it’s the passengers who ultimately benefit from it.”

In addition to winning the "Best in Region: Asia and Australasia" category, Garuda Indonesia was also voted as the " Top 5 Airlines with Best Overall Passenger Experience" and "Top 5 Airlines with Best Inflight Video", together with Emirates, Virgin America, Norwegian, and Ethiopian Airlines.

The airline was also voted as the "Top 5 Airlines with Best Cabin Ambiance" together with Virgin America, Austrian Airlines, El Al Israel Airlines, and Air Transat, as well as “Top 5 Airlines with Best Food and Beverage, together with Emirates, Turkish Airlines, El Al Israel Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines.

As Garuda Indonesia strives to continue its business transformation program, the airline’s performance is increasingly being recognized at international level. Garuda Indonesia proceeded to receive a new coveted accolade as airline with “The World’s Best Cabin Crew 2014” from Skytrax at the Farnborough International Airshow 2014, on July 2014. Garuda Indonesia now also sits at 7th position in the list of “The World’s Top 10 Airlines” by Skytrax.

Previously, Garuda Indonesia was also awarded "The World's Best Regional Airline" at the Farnborough International Airshow 2012 and “The World’s Best Economy Class” at the Paris Airshow 2013.
