Kafe Batavia

 

One of the Jakarta attractions is the old town of Jakarta, and sitting right across the Fatahillah Museum that holds some of the capital’s historical stories is Kafe Batavia. It offers a unique dining experience inside a historical landmark that was built in 1850 as an office for the Dutch East Indies’ government. In 1990, Frenchman Paul Hassan turned it into an art gallery, and a year later an Australian bought the gallery in 1991 and turned it into Kafe Batavia. Opened for public since 2003 Kafe Batavia serves a wide range of Indonesian and Western dishes with authentic flavours.

High above the busy streets of Jakarta at the 56th floor of BCA Tower is a hip restaurant and bar named SKYE. Climbing into popularity as one of the best restaurants in Jakarta, SKYE offers a spacious rooftop bar with a 360-degree view of Jakarta’s points of interest. SKYE offers unique International and local cuisines and a refreshing selection of drinks to go with the spectacular view.

Pao Pao Liquor Bar & Dim Sum

Oasis Heritage

Located in Raden Saleh, many consider Oasis Heritage as a romantic restaurant in Jakarta for its reminiscence of the colonial era, sans the oppression. Oasis offers the Dutch Rijsttafel as their must-try dish. The “rice table” pairs the Indonesian staple carb with 7 different kinds of dishes, paraded around the table, and served by the waiters. Dining at Oasis Heritage, patrons also get to watch the waiting staff do traditional performances from all corners of Indonesia. In this elegantly-decorated restaurant, diners get the sense of what it’s like to be Dutch noblemen in the Mool Indie era.

Hacienda Mexican Bar & Grill

Hacienda Mexican Bar & Grill is a Mexican restaurant that serves popular Mexican dishes and tapas to pair with a selection of Margarita, Tequila, specialty cocktails, and cold beer. You can find this restaurant at two upscale malls in Jakarta, Plaza Senayan Arcadia, and Pondok Indah Street Gallery. Filosofi Kopi

One of the best coffee shops in South Jakarta took the namesake of a popular film of the same name. Filosofi Kopi is also adapted from a novel of the same title released a few years earlier. The place was built as a set for the film shoot, but the overwhelming interests from the public have turned the place into a coffee shop for real. Located in the bustling streets of Melawai, Kedai Filosofi Kopi is filled with coffee lovers seen enjoying their favourite brew. Sometimes they’re also joined with the film casts, famous actors Chicco Jerikho and Rio Dewanto.
