Han River

At 514 kilometres long, the Han River is the longest river in the Korean Peninsula that was used as a trade route with the Chinese during Korea’s Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla Dynasty eras. Flowing from Gangwon-do, through Seoul, all the way to the Yellow Sea, Han River has been the silent witness to Korea’s milestones in the past 5,000 years. Maintained by the Seoul government, nowadays the sides of the river have been transformed into beautiful parks with various cafes and restaurants for locals and tourists to hang out, day and night.

  1. Exercise Along the River
In the beautiful parks on the river sides, tourists and locals come to do all kinds of activities from having picnics to having exercises. One of the most favourite parks is the Mangwon Hangang Park, which is located at the north end of the river, in the Mapo-gu area. Visitors to this park can use the available sports facilities, from courts for volleyball, basketball, baseball, to water sports like swimming, water skiing and motor boating.
