One area that is impossible to miss in Amsterdam, is the Museumplein. Home to Amsterdam’s best tourist attractions, strolling around Museumplein on your day out in the city is going to be the highlight of your trip. Also known as the Museum Quarter, Museumplein is now one of the most exclusive areas in Amsterdam. The Rijksmuseum
A Dutch national museum that is dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam, this museum is a must visit whether or not you are an art and history buff. It was first founded in The Hague in 1800 and was moved to Amsterdam since 1808. In the museum, you will be able to see on display are 8,000 objects of art and history, from their total collection of 1 million objects from the years 1200-2000, and among which you will find masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hais and Johannes Vermeer; as well as a small Asian collection which is on display in the Asian pavilion.
Van Gogh Museum
Van Gogh Museum in the Museumplein area in Amsterdam is the second most popular tourist attraction in the city. A fascinating museum that is dedicated to the works and contemporaries of Vincent Van Gogh, a legendary artist from The Netherlands, coming into this museum you will be able to see more than 200 works, contemporaries and even personal letters that will give you a comprehensive idea of how Van Gogh evolved as an artist. A little tip which would make your visit to the museum more convenient, is to book your ticket in advance online as this museum is quite well known for its long cue.
I Amsterdam Sign
An iconic photo spot in Amsterdam, stopping by the I Amsterdam Sign for a photo opportunity is a must to truly feel like you have been to Amsterdam. This large letters of the city’s signature slogan can be found right behind the Rijksmuseum in Museumplein. If you would like to come here for a photo op, you may want to come during the afternoon or evening, as during the day the area is widely filled with throngs of tourists who want the opportunity to take pictures there as well.
